Happy Wednesday! To switch things up a little, I’m posting some BTS along with a couple of photos from my recent shoot with the amazing @darink at the Quart Tower here in Valencia. This was a natural light shoot (with some help from Carmen with a reflector on occasion) so relied primarily on the sun, Asya Litvinova ‘s HMUA work, and Darina’s presence in front of the camera. I think we managed 🙂
¡Feliz miércoles! Para cambiar un poco las cosas, estoy publicando algo de BTS junto con un par de fotos de mi reciente sesión con el increíble @darink en la Quart Tower aquí en Valencia. Esta fue una sesión con luz natural (con la ayuda de Carmen con un reflector en ocasiones), por lo que se basó principalmente en el sol, el trabajo de HMUA de Asya Litvinova y la presencia de Darina frente a la cámara. Creo que lo logramos 🙂

A look behind (or from the side, really) during one of my Classic Hollywood style portraits sessions. The background is a dark gray painted muslin, the light is an Interfit Honeybadger with a 22″ beauty dish with a grid. (The other light in the background wasn’t in use for this shot).

The result…
Another shot from my classic Hollywood style portrait session with Malea Hooper. This time with a BTS image that shows how I set up for shoots like this. The main light is a 22″ beauty dish with a grid and there is a hair light to camera right with a 7″ reflector and grid. You can also see a flag of black foam core board partially blocking the main light to control light falloff.
The background is a dark gray painted musiln from Background in a Bag.

Fun! It’s one of the most important goals I have during my shoots. Not everyone enjoys being in front of the camera and it can show in your final images. Keeping the session fun can be a photographer’s most important tool in capturing engaging images. I feel like this is something at which I excel but maybe I should let the pictures do the talking.
