WORKSHOP | The Headshot: from Start to Finish

A good headshot presents what a person looks like but a great headshot will tell you who they  are. Creating a connection to your subject is the key to creating an engaging and attractive image. This is as important, if not more so, than the technical aspects of lighting and camera settings.

I believe tethered shooting during the session is one of the best tools the modern headshot photographer can use. Having the subject be able to view their images as they are captured brings them into the process. You willh work together as a team to create that “best shot”.

In my workshop, The Headshot: From Start to Finish, I demonstrate how I work with my clients to get that connection in my shots. I also go over my process of how I set up the camera and lighting as well as processing my images.

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to photograph models that will be on hand for the session. This is a great opportunity to put into practice what is being discussed during the workshop. I also encourage participants to get in front of the camera as it is a great way to understand how the subject feels during a shoot.

This workshop is kept to a small group of no more than eight photographers in order to ensure every participant gets time and enough personal attention during the workshop.

Upcoming date(s): During the COVID-19 situation these workshops have been cancelled but we will soon be scheduling session for the Fall of 2020. Please contact me if you would like to be informed when the sessions are made available for registration.
