Arun and Vanessa are crushing it in this shot much like the way I’m crushing the contrast :). The original shot was “okay” in my view, but I felt it could do with some “oomph”. Here I’ve upped the contrast and graded the color of the highlights (blue) and shadows (green) to create this crunchy, other-worldly image. It may not be everyone’s taste but it matches pretty closely what I saw in my head.

Loving this shot from Ashley Hylbert’s workshop at White Ave Studios. Ruta and Daniel are both models and are a real couple so they have a great connection when working together in front of the camera. The lighting is a mixture of cloudy above with two reflectors being held below and to camera left. The final image is toned in Adobe Camera Raw to create the “off-color” look.

Visiting today with this session with Kevin D. Gallacher at the Saddleback Ranch in Galisteo, NM. Part of a workshop with photographer Jeff Lipsky, this location offered an amazing backdrop for Kevin to display his dancing skills. I really like the way the clouds bisect the frame at the same point Kevin’s pants and shirt meet.
