Happy “LOL Thursday”!!! Howard L is leading the LOL’s today with this wonderful capture from his time in front of my camera. This was part of a group session for the local IIBA chapter and I have to say I was impressed with how many of the members were just flat out Rock-Stars during the few minutes I got to spend with each of them. Thanks for brightening our day here, Howard!

On Saturday, June 19th, come join me for an afternoon of hands-on learning with studio strobes and light modifiers. This workshop is really more “play” than work as we will spend a large portion of the time actually shooting with studio lights and getting to try out a wide variety of modifiers. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with different types of light shaping tools which will help you to find what works best for your style of photography.

When: Saturday, June 19th | 12:30pm to 5:00pm
Where: OnTrack Studios | 1978 Wilson Pk | Franklin, TN
How Much: $75.00
How Many: 8
During the live shooting portion of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to try out various modifiers on the same subject. This is a great way to see the differences and qualities of light that the various sizes, shapes, and designs of a softbox and/or reflector will render. Students are encouraged to bring their cameras to participate in the live shooting portion of the workshop.
I know I’m ready for fun (as well as work) in the sun. It’s time to start thinking about things like poolside images not unlike this favorite from my session last year with Annsley Wood at the Dive Motel. This was my first time shooting there and I’m definitely heading back this summer. This image was shot in afternoon sun (behind me) with a Godox AD600 strobe to my left and a couple of feet above me. Thanks to The Luxury Label Nashville for providing the Gucci top Annsley’s wearing here.
Bringing a healthy does of “glam” to this week’s Headshot of the Week! is the lovely Allee-Sutton Hethcoat. This shot was captured during Ashley Hylbert’s portrait workshop last year and while not intending to take headshots at the time, it happened anyway. Allee is an incredible presence in front of the camera and she clearly owns the space surrounding her in this shot.

Hannah Lee setting the studio on fire in another favorite from our January shoot. Hannah really knows how to move and pose herself to the point she needs little to no direction. She makes it super easy to get compelling images during a session.
